General Information & Recital Procedures

The Stars of Tomorrow Dance Recital is the highlight of our year! Below is an at-a-glance overview for families so you can plan ahead with confidence.

  • Recital Dates: Saturday, June 13th, & Sunday, June 14th

  • Venue: Elwood Middle School - 100 Kenneth Avenue, Greenlawn, NY 11740

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to showtime and NO MORE than 30 minutes prior.  We run several shows back-to-back and our staff will not be ready for each group of performers more than 30 minutes prior.

  • Dancers arrive: 60 minutes before showtime unless otherwise noted

  • House opens for audience: 30 minutes before curtain

Drop-off & Pick-up: As always, the safety of our dance family is our #1 priority. When students arrive at the recital, they are to be checked in at the designated check-in table by  ONE parent or guardian. They will receive a Photo ID Tag with the number we have on file in case of an emergency.  Adult will receive a bracelet. Your ID Tag will contain your dressing room assignment.  You will be able to walk your dancer to the dressing room to set up a spot for them, but MUST do a quick drop off and enter the auditorium.  No parents will be permitted in the dressing rooms during the performance.

Dancers will hold onto their ID Tag.  PLEASE do not leave the performance early as ALL dancers are included in this year's grand finale.  After the finale, we will bring your dancer back to the dressing room to collect their belongings. The parent or guardian who is wearing the bracelet should be the only person coming to the dressing room to pick up. Please advise all other family members to wait in the lobby.

This process does take a few minutes and we very much appreciate your patience at pick up while we confirm that dancers are picked up by their rightful guardian.

Please make sure your dancer's ID Tag gets returned to a staff member or the check-in table. Don't forget to stop at the trophy pick-up table for your dancer's yearly trophy. Then take all the photos you would like and celebrate the amazing achievement with your dancer!

ALL students (yes even teenagers!) are to check in and have their name marked off when they arrive at the venue. If your child has any Medical Conditions that may require attention whilst in our care or are carrying any medication with them, please notify our supervisors when you sign in. All medication (EPI Pens, Inhalers, etc) should be clearly labeled and given to our Dressing Room Supervisors.

Please arrive with hair and makeup done and in costume. If your dancer is in multiple dances, please have them ready for their first dance.

What to bring:

All children must bring a clearly labeled bag with extra hairspray, gel, hair elastics, bobby pins, and safety pins. Please ensure that any required medication is packed and clearly labeled with instructions.

Your makeup must also be packed and clearly labeled, as well as your dance shoes, tights, socks, and dance undergarments. Don’t forget your costumes, too! These are best hung on hangers and protected in the provided costume bag that is clearly labeled, so please keep and use the ones provided by the studio. Make sure EVERYTHING has your name on it. Often belongings get left at recital. This is would make it easier for our staff to return any lost items!  If you have a portable costume rack, please bring it as hanging space is quite limited.

For students with multiple costumes we HIGHLY suggest a laundry basket to drop all used costumes in.  This will make it easier for you to collect belongings at the end of the show and your dancer will have ease and speed of changing costumes when they don’t have to worry about hanging used garments.  For extra convenience, consider labeling this basket with the name and/or photo of your child in case our backstage assistants do not know the names of all children.

FOOD AND DRINK - Absolutely no food is permitted backstage or dressing room. The only thing dancers should have is a water bottle labeled with their name on it.

Children are discouraged from bringing any valuables, including phones, iPods, iPads, and laptops, as the venue and Stars of Tomorrow will not take responsibility for any items lost, damaged, or stolen. We will have things to occupy dancers while waiting in the dressing room.

Video & Photography

With considerable thought to copyright and child safety laws, personal photography or video recording is strictly prohibited. We have employed professional Videographers to capture these memories for you.  This service will be provided to all families in attendance, and you will receive your performance via digital download just a few weeks after the show.   We know it is tempting to capture these moments yourself, but we invite you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show in the moment, while knowing your memories are being preserved for you.  We thank you in advance for adhering to these policies, advising your recital guests to do the same, as it is our ultimate goal to know exactly who is filming your children and only wish for those with good intentions to be in possession of this footage.  This policy ensures that only currently registered accounts and recital participants have access to this precious footage.  For family members who are unable to attend, you can share the live stream with them so they can enjoy the show from the comfort of their home!

Miscellaneous "To Do’s"

- Check out the parent portal after May  1st for downloadable versions of your recital music and videos- get your dancers practicing!

- Don't forget to pack your 2026 recital t-shirt! This shirt is given out during class the last week before recital- if you are unable to attend classes that week, please make sure you see the front desk to pick up your shirt on another date.

 Finale & Presentation of Awards

All students participating in recital will be receiving a recital t-shirt to wear at Finale.  They will wear this shirt over the costume for their class, or are welcome to change into black spandex shorts (no logos please) with Tan tights.

The Recital Participation Fee included the fee for T-shirt & Trophy.

At the end of our show,  all dancers will be participating in finale! DANCERS ARE ONLY PERFORMING THE FINALE IN THE SHOWS THEY ARE ASSIGNED TO.

All students will be learning the 2026 Finale in class prior to the recital and will receive a video to practice at home!

At the conclusion of our recital, you will pick your dancer up from their assigned dressing room, return their ID tag, pick up their trophy at the clearly marked Trophy table, and pose in front of our photo wall!
